Over the weekend, I visited The Lip Lab in Paddington, NSW, Australia. Their store is probably one of the coolest concepts I have ever seen! You get to make your very own lipstick right in from of your eyes!!! The ladies were oh so lovely and my custom lipstick blender was Madeline! We created a lipstick shade that was perfect for me and also the weather. As it is winter in Sydney, I wanted to go for more of a cool nude shade, but still had a touch of femininity about it - and thats where HAZELNUT ROSE was born!
So listed below is the process we went through and how we came to make this beauty!!
1. Choose your colours. I told Madeline I wanted a nude rosy brown shade. So she mixed up pink, brown, white and kept adding more of each colour till we got to the shade I was looking for. I got to try them on at each stage and I just let her know if i wanted it lighter or brighter or anything really!
2. Choose your base. You can choose form so many different finishes. I went for a matte finish, as I personally love a matte lipstick but you could choose a satin finish or a glossy finish, whatever you are feelin'!
3. Add your additives. You can even add things like SPF, lip plumper and my favourite thing - FLAVOURS! I probably smelt each and everyone of them for a good 5 minutes, its realllly hard to choose when they all smell so good! In the end, I chose Hazelnut and my goodness i just want to eat it. I also added lip plumper because WHY NOT?!
Next, the mixture is melted down and placed into a machine that gets rid of all the air bubbles and lumps so it becomes a smooth consistency. It is then poured into the mould and then we wait... It set in like 5 minutes of so!
While all this was happening, I was asked to give my lippy a name. I literally could not think of anything!!! Given the shade of it was a browny rosey colour and hazelnut and rose sort of resembles that- I decided on Hazelnut Rose. Not to mention also, every time I wear it, I would be reminded of a big jar of Nutella ;)
